Much Ado About Noting
In Elizabethan English, ‘nothing’ was pronounced in the same way as ‘noting’; a key theme in the play is people watching or ‘noting’ other people’s activities and behaviour – and, of course, failing to note accurately or at all! Shakespeare's daring combinations of different mood and characters
