Apathy or activism?
Young people today are often characterised as being less interested in politics.
At the start of Rhinoceros, Berenger has a disengaged, apathetic approach to life. But by the transformation scene (an excerpt from which is shown here) he starts to show that he really does have a genuine concern for humanist moral values.
Dominic Cooke (the director) and Benedict Cumberbatch (playing Berenger) discuss how this makes Berenger's predicament in Rhinoceros similar to the situation many young people find themselves in today.
