Units of action

In rehearsal the actors playing Berenger (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Jean (Jasper Britton) work with director Dominic Cooke on a technique created by the Russian director Stanislavski that breaks down the scenes in Ionesco's play into a series of short units of action. As Benedict and Dominic explain, to be useful to the actors these units must be very specific and they must use verbs rather than adjectives to describe them.
