Melly Still: Choosing and adapting stories

Director Melly Still talks about the process of choosing and adapting the tales in Beasts and Beauties. She says that all the stories chosen have a strong dramatic core. Poet Carol Ann Duffy re-wrote the tales, and then Melly (with Tim Supple) adapted them for the stage. The dramatised versions are not embellished, and the stories are still narrated in the third person, but non-dramatic, descriptive moments are removed.
