A better playwright than a theorist

Actor Simon Russell Beale repeats a phrase that he heard from the dramatist Christopher Hampton, to the effect that Brecht “was a better playwright than he was a theorist”. Russell Beale states that the production does not attempt to put the audience in a position where they can be disinterested spectators; instead it is “a romantic version – played like a thriller”.
