Beauty and the Beast : The Dinner Table

NARRATOR

The next night at supper

BEAUTY

Beast was there, dressed in his best capa.

( He is courteous and tries his best to display excellent table manners. But the noises he makes disgust her. )

BEAST

Forgive me, Beauty. (Beauty nods) If my presence distresses you, I will leave at once. Do I revolt you?

BEAUTY

I cannot lie. You do. But I know you are very... good natured.

BEAST

Yes. Even so, I am a monster.

BEAUTY

There are plenty who deserve that name more than you do. I prefer you to someone who conceals a twisted heart behind an upright form.

BEAST

I am grateful to you. Beauty? Will you consent to be my wife?

BEAUTY

No, Beast.
