Designer Simon Higlett says that director Jonathan Church asked him to work on The Crucible. They had worked together before and came up and with a design very quickly, both of them having worked on the play before and having a good idea of what they wanted. Simon then made an empty model box and put in plasticene figures to represent the actors.
