Lighting demo: Prologue

Lighting designer Mark Jonathan describes the lighting for the opening of the play. The eighteen actors arrive on stage in darkness, and the light builds so that the audience can make out their faces. It looks as if the light is coming solely from the lanterns, but Mark reveals that there are spotlights coming from the wings and the doors to help light the actors’ faces.
