Act 4 is set in the prison at night. Lighting designer Mark Jonathan says that the effect of moonlight being projected through the prison bars is created using a strong backlight and a haze from the top to make the light 3-dimensional. Time passes during this Act, as night turns into dawn, and the lighting creates the effect of moonlight fading, while dawn light builds very slowly over the duration of the Act.
