Producer Jenny King says that some might claim that a producer's role is simply to pay all the bills. With The Crucible, this is far from being the case: she has a creative as well as a funding role. A producer's creative input varies a lot from project to project, but on a typical commercial production, the producer would employ everybody involved, choose the script, and basically oversee every aspect of the production including the sales and marketing.
