Wigged and unwigged

The Crucible is an unusual production in that wigs were needed for the men rather than the women. During the late 1600s, when The Crucible takes place, men typically had long hair, often tied back behind their heads, so long-haired wigs were needed. Head of Wigs Andy Whiteoak tried to create wigs that would look realistic for each actor, so he worked with their hair style and hair consistency and tried to give them a new head of hair that was similar, but much longer.
