Patricia Kerrigan: Playing Elizabeth Proctor

Actor Patricia Kerrigan, who plays the role of Elizabeth Proctor, says that she sees The Crucible as a splintered but difficult human love story between the Proctors. She finds Elizabeth difficult to play because of women’s role in society in that time, and their being unable to express an opinion directly. However, she says that Elizabeth is not a timid woman, but possesses an unusual mixture of modesty and confidence which she, as an actor, must try to bring out.
