Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students will:

understand that conflict arises from a range of sources and motivations extreme and less extreme;

  • distinguish between conflict and violence;
  • understand that conflict can be regarded as a problem that needs solving;
  • understand that conflict affects people’s behaviour;
  • be able to reflect upon and articulate strategies that can be used for dealing with conflict;
  • reflect on the positive and negative consequences of using violence to solve a conflict;
  • understand that conflict, whether personal, external or global, follows similar patterns.
